Domaine de Bréseyme, Brézème, AOC Côtes du Rhône, Blanc, 2018

A wine that allows you to discover an uncommon Côtes-du-Rhône appellation: Brézème. A beautiful expression of Viognier, this wine reveals a beautiful aromatic intensity with exotic notes and a touch of liveliness. A rich wine, all in harmony.
Terroir

Ever since the Middle Ages vines have been planted on steep slopes facing south. The highest point is Mount Roti at 256m. The soil is composed of clay and limestone. Our vines are located on the localities known as BREZEME EST and BRESEME OUEST. The estate is currently planted with 3.5ha of red and 0.5ha of white.

The vintage

In 2018, we were lucky to have another very good vintage in the Northern Rhône Valley. A generous and qualitative crop despite major climatic hazards that required the greatest attention.

Process

The harvest takes place early in the morning in order to preserve the freshness of the berries, they are then put in small boxes. The Viognier and the Roussanne are pressed together. Fermentation starts after settling for a few hours. Batonnage are regular to enrich the wine and develop its aromatic palate.

Tasting

Pretty color with shiny reflections. The very expressive nose develops exotic aromas typical of viognier and an elegant, lightly-toasted touch thanks to the ageing. The palate is full and rich on the mouth with a dominant Viognier, before unveiling the roundness of Marsanne and the beautiful freshness of Roussanne on the finish. A balanced wine.

Grapes

Viognier : 65 %
Marsanne : 35 %

The 2018 Domaine Bréseyme Côtes du Rhône Blanc is composed of Grenache Blanc 60%, Marsanne 10%, Viognier 30% and opens to pretty aromatics of sliced pears, jasmine and orange blossoms all bursting from the glass. The palate is beautifully textured with a gorgeous mouthfeel, laced with flavors of orchard fruits, peaches and honeysuckle which linger beautifully through the finish.

Wine Enthusiast

Sourced from the tiny northern appellation of Brézème, this gorgeously sunny sip melds zesty pineapple and fresh apple flavors with delicate swathes of sweet spice and blossom. A blend of 65% Viognier and 35% Marsanne matured partially in oak, it’s luxurious in texture yet sprightly and mineral too. Lovely already it should hold through 2025.
