Terroir

Ever since the Middle Ages vines have been planted on steep slopes facing south. The highest point is Mount Roti at 256m. The soil is composed of clay and limestone. Our vines are located on the localities known as BREZEME EST and BRESEME OUEST. The estate is currently planted with 3.5ha of red and 0.5ha of white.

Process

Whole bunch vinification. 15 months of aging in 2-3 year barrels.

Tasting

The colour is not very deep. The wine is very aromatic and notes of northern Syrah. The whole bunches leave very noble plant aromas with very floral touches tending towards the violet. There are also some smoky notes.

On the palate, the wine is very precise with beautiful freshness and an astonishing length.

Grapes

Syrah : 100 %

Restaurant Wine

This domaine has 10 acres (4 hectares) of hillside vines, nearly all of it Syrah. And although it is at the southern end of the northern Rhone Valley—east of the town of Livron-sur-Drome—its red wine tastes very much like that of Cote Rotie, a superb appellation 30 miles to the north. Here, the 2016 is a rich, toasty Syrah of exceptional quality. It is supple, full bodied, and very complex in aroma/ flavor (cooked meat, violet, herbs, blackberry, black licorice, toasty oak), with a long flavor evolution, and a very long finish. Can be aged further.
