The vintage

For the appellations of the northern Rhone Valley, 2015 was a truly exceptional year, almost without precedent!
After a mild, wet winter and particularly high temperatures in spring, summer brought a heatwave even hotter than 2003. Welcome rain arrived in abundance in mid-August, followed anew by glorious sunshine and a providential wind that guaranteed perfect sanitary conditions and a regular and rapid ripening of the grapes. And so the harvest benefited from optimum conditions during the first two weeks of September.

Tasting

A beautiful red-black colour, with violet undertones, this wine expresses a style that highlights the tension, and the vivaciousness of Syrah rather than their rich jamy character. The nose reveals a beautiful mineral freshness, notes of blackcurrant, peonies and sweet spices. On the palate, a fine tension, nourished by a silky tannic structure, accompanies this wine towards a rich and digestible finish.

Jeb Dunnuck

From estate vineyards (they own 4 hectares around Tournon), the 2015 Saint-Joseph is a beautiful Syrah offering notes of black raspberries, blueberries, peppery herbs, and violet aromas and flavors. With a touch of olive emerging with time in the glass, medium to full-bodied richness, fine tannin, and a beautiful finish, it's a seamless, elegant wine that shows how special 2015 was for the northern Rhône.

Vinous

Brilliant violet. Ripe dark berries, cherry liqueur, olive paste and incense on the highly perfumed nose; a smoky mineral element adds vivacity. Energetic blackberry, bitter cherry and candied violet flavors show excellent clarity, and a spicecake nuance builds with air. The smooth, smoke-tinged finish emphatically repeats the floral and olive notes, and supple tannins build steadily, merging smoothly with the juicy fruit.
