The vintage :
After the solar and Mediterranean 2015 vintage, 2016 is very structured and fresh. The wines are flattering right from the first months but their balance will carry them for many years.
Maceration 3 days cold.
Two pumpover and two punch down / day.
Fermentation 20 days.
Ageing in 1 and 2-years-old barrels for 15 months.
Syrah : 100%
Tasting notes :
A beautiful red color with purple undertones, this wine develops aromas of black fruit, slightly roasted cocoa, pepper and sweet spices. The mouth is full of freshness, with fine tannins that give it volume and roundness. The finish is long and harmonious, very elegant wine.
Serving tips :
Tasting temperature 16 to 18°C.
Sourced from the hillsides around Tournon, the 2016 Saint Joseph Domaine les Alexandrins features attractive notions of violets, mocha and loam. Full-bodied and supple, the flavors of cola and dark-skinned plum remain bright and vibrant on the finish. It should drink well for 6-7 years.

Coming from vineyards around Tournon in
the southern part of the appellation, the 2016
Saint Joseph reveals a ruby/purple color as well
as attractive notes of blackberries, peppery herbs,
and earth. It’s medium-bodied, has solid overall
balance, plenty of tannins, and the charming,
classic style of the vintage front and center.
While good, it’s a solid step back from the 2015.
